Kevin Hart was on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show on January 4, Friday, while her conversations brought a terse response from GLAAD which is one of the country’s leading LGBTQ advocacy groups.
By appearing on CNN Tonight opposite Don Lemon on Friday, Sarah Kate along with Don Lemon, at climax of the night conversation host of the program Lemon revealed his inner views on the uproar surrounding the Oscars and Kevin Hart.
Sarah Kate Ellis, president and chief executive officer for GLAAD, said in her statement, “From when this news first broke, GLAAD said Kevin Hart should not step down from the Oscars, he should step up and send an unequivocal message of acceptance to LGBTQ youth that matches the force and impact of his initial anti-LGBTQ remarks,”
Lemon who known as openly gay, said indicating Hart directly, “Kevin, if anything this is the time to hear other people out, to hear why they might have been offended. I don’t see any meaningful outreach to the community…. and now you want the conversation to end.”
He also said continuing saying that the apologies Hart has given have fallen flat for many people, “To many they seem insincere, and that he has somehow turned himself into a victim instead of acknowledging the real victims of violent and sometimes deadly homophobia.”
Lemon also mentioned, “Walking away right now, that is your choice, but many of us need to keep the conversation going,” it is also said by the host on CNN Tonight that it is life or death, “Someone like Kevin Hart can be a leader — the ultimate change agent — he can help change homophobia in the black community.”
The 39-year-old black stand-up comic has experienced huge criticism after publishing homophobic tweets and jokes, in spite of the Ellen believes that Hart should host the Oscars and avoided to highlight his series of homophobic jokes he made in the history.
