Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s founder and chief executive, and his wife, MacKenzie Bezos, both have announced on Twitter on Thursday that they had finalized the details of their divorce.
The-55-year-old mentioned on Twitter that he has been agreed to leave his wife with $35.6 billion in Amazon stock, will be owning 75 percent of their Amazon stock and all of the couple’s ownership of The Washington Post and the Blue Origin space company.
According to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Mr. Bezos will also have “sole voting authority” over Amazon shares of his former wife who will be the owner of shares representing about 4 percent of Amazon’s outstanding common stock that makes her the third-biggest shareholder at the company, behind her ex-husband and Vanguard.
MacKenzie is reportedly happy giving her ex-husband 75 percent of their stock in Amazon along with voting control of her shares. She has also given her former husband all of her interests in the Blue Origin aerospace company and The Washington Post.
After achieving shares from her Bezos, now the American novelist will be among the richest woman owning the fourth rank. However, at this stage, MacKenzie is behind the Francoise Bettencourt Meyers owns $54 billion wealth of L’Oreal SA heiress, Alice Walton with the fortune of the $44 billion and Jacqueline Badger Mars with the $37 billion, the Bloomberg Billionaires Index reported.
Nonetheless, after all settlements finalized between MacKenzie and Bezos, he still continues his ruling as the richest person in the globe despite losing $35.6 billion in Amazon stock.
When it comes to the latest proxy filing, Mr. Bezos retains his position as the biggest shareholder of Amazon having a stake of about 12%.
Now the senior person in one of the largest e-commerce marketplaces in the world experiences about 0.4% down stock on Thursday afternoon as reported on news channels and closed down 0.1%.
Bezos also shared his thanks to his ex-wife in the other statement, “I’m grateful for her support and for her kindness in this process and am very much looking forward to our new relationship as friends and co-parents,”
