Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his wife MacKenzie after 25 years of marriage, both have decided to get divorce and announced in a joint statement via the world’s richest person’s Twitter account on Wednesday.

The Amazon CEO and his wife said like this in the statement, “After a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends,”

They continued, “We feel incredibly lucky to have found each other and deeply grateful for every one of the years we have been married to each other, If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again.”

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Bezos with an estimated net worth of $137 billion, is now considered the richest person in the world. However, by considering Bezos’ wealth, this divorce will be listed among very costly or most expensive divorces so far.

Nevertheless, the 54-year-old an American technology entrepreneur and his wife MacKenzie, 48,both first met and tied the knot by working at D.E. Shaw, a New York-based hedge fund, in the early 1990s. To expand their business and to create Amazon Company, they packed up and turned across the country to Seattle.

Mackenzie Ziegler who turned Mackenzie Bezos, is an American dancer, singer, actress and model, has written multiple novels as well as Kenzie’s Rules for Life: How to Be Happy, Healthy and Dance to Your Own Beat.

Bezos along with wife declared their plans last year to commit $2 billion to fund existing nonprofits to build residences for homeless families and to construct a network of preschools in low-income communities.

He and his wife together have four children of whom three are sons and one daughter which Bezos and Mackenzie adopted from China.

After divorce, they both will be working together as “parents, friends, partners in ventures and projects”, and individuals pursuing ventures and adventures,” said in this joint statement.
