James Altucher is an American hedge fund manager, author, venture capitalist, entrepreneur, and podcaster. He was born on January 22, 1968 in United States.

Career

He attended Cornell University to achieve a bachelor’s degree in computer science in 1989. After completing his graduation, Altucher made first job in the IT department of HBO. At a moment, he hosted an HBO program, III:am.

Nevertheless, he said good-bye to HBO in 1998, sold Reset Inc. for about $10 million, and used this money in further internet projects.

In 1998, Altucher left HBO, sold Reset Inc. for approximately $10 million, and used the proceeds to fund new internet investments. According to Altucher, he started this period with $15 million and all money lost in two years, which reached him at the point to re-assess his approach to both business and life.

Nonetheless, Jim Cramer of TheStreet. com was the man who hired him to write about stocks, and Altucher stepped in trading for hedge funds. He traded for several hedge funds from 2002–2005, and ran a fund of hedge funds from 2004–2006.
