By attending the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Syria’s Finance Minister also declares ‘no deadline’ should be imposed over a constitutional body recommended recently.
Syria has asked all foreign forces from its territories for immediate removal and also it keeps back the right to get going if they stay inside the country.
Walid al-Muallem, the Foreign Minister of Syria said by addressing to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Saturday, “The United States and Turkey maintain an illegal military presence in northern Syria,”
He added, “Any foreign forces operating in our territories without our authorization are occupying forces and should withdraw immediately,”
Syria has been undergoing devastating eight-year civil war that caused implement of several foreign security forces and thousands of foreign fighters combating for power.
At this time, most parts of the nation has been recovered by the Syrian government forces but Idlib, a city in northwestern Syria, though the northwest and the oil-rich northeast are still in control of the rebels as well as the oil-rich northeast which is held by United States-backed Kurdish groups.
Syria’s FM further told during address, “Tens of thousands of foreign terrorist fighters have been brought to Syria from more than 100 countries with the support and cover of states that are known to all,”
Al-Muallem also highlighted that these nations’ armies are working in Syria, are using “terrorism” as a tool to impose their most dangerous programs on the people and governments that totally refuse their existence in their states.
According to reports, the conflict started in 2011 that has left about more than 370,000 people dead and millions of people had to leave their residences to secure their families and lives.
Al-Muallem statements emerged with regards to a UN document released on Saturday exploring the new committee is mandated to either modify current constitution of the Syria or pen a new one and “free and fair elections” will be held in war-torn Islamic nation under the supervision of the world body once the constitution is planned.
It is also reported to be constitutional committee will incorporate 150 people in which 50 from the opposition, 50 belongs to the Syrian regime and a further 50 chosen by the UN and members of Syrian civil society.
