He was born on October 15, 1959 in Fall River, Massachusetts, United States to Emeril John Lagassé, Jr. and Hilda Medeiros. He graduated from Diman Regional Voc Tech High School.

Career: Lagassé is better known for his emphasis on Creole and Cajun cooking styles. He started his career as an Executive Chef at the Dunfey’s Hyannis Resort in 1979. In 1882, he succeeded to become executive chef of Commander’s Palace in New Orleans under Richard Brennan, Sr… In 1983, he was nominated as Chef of the Year.
